I am always looking for ways to make things healthier, yet still tasty, in the kitchen. And since I have a major sweet tooth, I need to find answers to baked goods! These cookies are a great answer for something sweet. And with no butter, processed sugar, or vegetable/canola oil they are a great (and super easy to make!) alternative to a traditional cookie without lacking on sweetness! Read more
Over the past few years I have played around with a lot of different protein and energy ball recipes. The other day while experimenting in the kitchen with my husband, we hit the nail on the head with this ‘to die for’ recipe. So obviously it needed to be shared!
I’ve been a big fan of Kombucha for some time now. I would buy it every now and then as a “treat yourself” kind of situation. But kombucha just has so many health benefits that I wanted to be consuming it on a more regular basis, it just wasn’t in our budget. So I finally got around to brewing my own, a much more bank account friendly way to get more of this bubbly goodness in my life! Woo hoo!! If you have everything you need, the process is really not hard. So what do you need and how did I make it? Read more
Most people see dandelions in their yard and see only annoying and frustrating weeds that just keep multiplying by the thousands (millions maybe??). I use to be in that group! And while I do still enjoy a nice green lawn, I am learning that they are worth so much more than a therapy session of plucking them on by one, making a wish, or a princess crown. You can actually eat dandelions! Yep, you read that right, you can eat dandelions, root and all! But WHY??
The other day Nora and I made popsicles together for the first time. Our babysitter is unofficially the official “Popsicle Queen.” Nora has been enjoying her homemade popsicles for some time now, and with the warm weather approaching, it just seemed right to go out and get some popsicle molds for Nora and I to make our own. It’s been years since I’ve made homemade popsicles, boy did it bring back some great memories! Homemade popsicles are so easy to make, so much healthier than store bought, and still so yummy! You so should give them a try! Read more
When your husband says “This is the best french onion soup I’ve ever had” you take a picture and share your recipe.
I often do “research” on a recipe I want to make, incorporating a bunch of different recipes (to modify for nutrients, quality of ingredients, and what we have on hand etc.), so when I hit the nail on the head, meaning it’s husband and toddler approved, I figure I better write it down! This recipe was so simple to make in the crockpot, with only a few ingredients! And let me tell you– I. Like. Simple. So when I say simple, I mean simple! This recipe fits the bill! Read more
I like to start my morning with a routine that sets the tone for the rest of my day. Part of that routine is drinking a cup of tea to fuel my body with essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. In the winter months, this is especially helpful to add an armor of protection against all the bugs and viruses that come our way in Minnesota. I am not a huge fan of conventional tea however (not for a lack of trying though), so I drink a DIY “tea” that still has many (if not more) health benefits, and it’s one I enjoy drinking! Keep on reading!
Elderberries are one berry that certainly do not get enough attention! They have a multitude of health benefits that date back to Native American use, and they have just as many ways to consume them! Read more
